Warning over heating oil thefts

An increase in heating oil thefts has been highlighted by a security company in a bid to help protect consumers.

The Plymouth Herald revealed that Securi-Guard, based in Estover, Devon, is playing a leading role in raising awareness of the issue as part of a British Security Industry Association campaign.

Securi-Guard revealed unsecured storage facilities in the county have been increasingly targeted by criminals who then sell the stolen heating oil on the black market.

Spokesman Paul Steeper said: "We were glad to help BSIA highlight the serious issue of oil heating thefts and the steps companies like Securi-Guard are taking to help protect consumers. BSIA plays a crucial role promoting the work of its members across all aspects of the professional security industry."

Securi-Guard can supply a range of fire and security solutions to help protect consumers from heating oil thefts, Mr Steeper said.
