Boiler funding to reduce heating costs
Thousands of households could be in line to receive money towards a new energy efficient boiler that will help to reduce their heating costs.
The Scottish Government has said that a sum of £500,000 will be made available to help rid homes of poorly performing boilers.
Alex Neil, cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment, announced the plans that will see over 1,000 homes benefit from £400 towards the cost of a new boiler.
Mr Neil said: "We are committed to eradicating fuel poverty and reducing household carbon emissions. One important change people can make is to install energy efficient boilers. Over the last year, we have invested £4 million to incentivise households to replace inefficient boilers.
"Almost 12,000 households have applied for vouchers under the scheme since June 2011."
He added: "I would urge anyone thinking of renewing their old boiler to call the Home Energy Scotland Hotline and speak to the advisers who can take their application over the phone. The scheme is operated on a first come, first served basis."
